This is dedicated to…

So I finished revisions and copyedits for RIDING WILD! :cheer:

But before I ship the mss back to my editor, I have to work through the really hard part: the dedication.

Dedicating a book isn’t easy. And it’s something I take pretty seriously. I’m not kidding when I say it takes a freakin village to write a book. I never do this alone, though sometimes it feels that way when I’m making myself insane wondering if what I’m writing is utter crap and also wondering who the hell can tell me if it’s utter crap and who could I ask to look at this crap and tell me if it’s crap or am I just imagining crap when it isn’t (only other writers…or my agent or editors will understand what I just said. :giggle:)

So when all is said and done I need to figure out who helped…and who to thank. Who inspired me, who kept me going when I said…this sucks (I say that a lot when I’m writing a book), and who was part of that village that helped me.

Because even though I sometimes feel alone on this writing journey…I’m never alone. I’m always right in the middle of a well populated village.

Off to write that dedication. :bat:

Contest Winners, Guest Blogging and Misc.

Thanks to everyone who helped make Shannon’s birthday so fun! I had Shannon draw a winner from those who posted on the blog that day. The winner is CHRISTY H! Christy, please email me at jaci @ jaciburton. com to claim your print copy of GOING THE DISTANCE!

I’m guest blogging over at WRITEMINDED today, and the Writeminded gals are giving away a copy of SURVIVING DEMON ISLAND and WILD WICKED & WANTON! Go check it out!

I was interviewed by Kelly Para over at Publisher’s Marketplace (thank you Kelly!). You can find the interview here, so please go take a look.

Busy Saturday here. We’re picking up Buddy from the vet’s office this morning (surgery went fine and he’s doing great). We have a pen all set up for him so he can’t run around and hurt himself this time. Hopefully recovery will go well. The Oklahoma football game is this morning too, so we’ll be hanging on the sofa glued to the television (and praying Satellite tv doesn’t go out…it’s storming like crazy here today!). Tonight is Nascar. And I have a novella to finish this weekend, so laptop will be..literally..on my lap the entire time.

Hope y’all have fun weekend plans! We’re stuck in the house because of the rain, but at least we’ll be entertained by sports and a whining dog. :giggle:

Welcome To My Life

The Demon’s Touch is finished. It’s currently….gelling…in a closed file on my computer. (Which means I’m avoiding it right now, debating whether it’s really done and ready to send to my editor, or whether I want to give it one more read through and rip it apart. Again.)

I’m writing Unwrapped, my Samhain Christmas novella set it Hawaii. Woo hooo! Santa, surf and sex! What could be more fun! :boobie: I have GOT to wrap up writing this book by this weekend.

Revisions for Riding Wild, my Feb 2008 Berkley Heat book, arrived yesterday. They’re due back on the 19th. Holy crap. :hide:

I need to plot the next Wild Riders book like…uhhh…right now. Or yesterday. My editor requested a main character change for the next book, which means an entirely new plotline than the one I was going to write next. So I’m under the gun because this book is due to my editor by Jan 1st. Guess what I’ll be doing this holiday season? Besides shopping online.

Biker Dude’s busy season at work is RIGHT NOW. I need to go to the office and help him the next few days. Yeah, I’ve got time for that. Not.

Buddy will be home from the vet’s office probably this weekend. Full time care for him for awhile. Yeah, I’ve got time for that. Not.

#1 son and his fiancée and their daughter are moving to Oklahoma! Woo hooo! Until they find a place to live, they’ll be staying with us. Love them. Adore my granddaughter. She’s 4. I can’t wait until they get here (which should be next weekend sometime). And unfortunately, this couldn’t be the worst possible time to have them here. 😥

Don’t you just love when life happens?

Pass the Xanax. Or a clone.
