I’m Back!

Whew! Long weekend, and a lot of riding. My butt and my back are sore. But we had fun. There were lots of bikes to ogle, lots of people to ogle, too. I mean there are the regular biker people, folks who come to see the bikers, and then the people who dressed oddly. Seriously, I wish I had gotten some pics of the strange outfits. Like the girl in the white hot pants with pantyhose underneath and the pink haltertop and omg she so needed a bra. Well, maybe it’s best you don’t see a pic. Bad enough I had to see it.

It was hot during the day and cold at night, which when you had the packing crisis I did means I had to buy a new jacket at the Harley Davidson store in Fayeteville. :giggle:

On Friday night we rode the bike down Dickson St and…I’m not kidding…there were wall to wall people lining the sidewalks, five foot deep, and no one was moving. It was like people sardines. Really scary for the claustrophobic. What a madhouse and I wanted no part of that crush. Yikes!

Saturday morning was much nicer. Crowded, but manageable. Pics below!

These pics are all of Dickson St, the main drag where all the bikes ride up and down…ya know, to see and be seen.

And we’ve decided we need a bigger bike :giggle:

Packing Crisis

So tomorrow after work Biker Dude and I will be heading to Arkansas for Bikes, Blues & BBQ, an annual event held in Fayetteville. Nothing like spending a couple days with a quarter of a million people packed together like sardines, and add in 100,000 bikes or so. I can’t wait! :giggle:

We went last year and had a blast. Oh, that reminds me, gotta charge up the camera batteries and actually remember to pack the camera.

Anyway, we’re riding the bike up there, which brings me to my dilemma…packing. We have a small bag on the back of the Harley, and we’ll add a backpack on top of it.

I’m not a light packer. I like to overpack. But on bike trips, overpacking is a huge no no. We take the minimum, which means the jeans we’re wearing, an extra shirt, minimal toiletries and that’s it. (I mean my makeup and hair stuff and shoes alone can take up half a regular sized suitcase). But no. One pair of shoes…my riding boots. Minimal hair goo. Minimal makeup. (You picking up on the whole ‘minimal’ thing here?)

*whimper*

But….but…what if I spill ketchup on my jeans? What if it rains? What if I get muddy?

I know…some tough girl, huh? I like to bring extra clothes so that I’m prepared for any eventuality. But with minimal space (there’s that word again..minimal), that’s not gonna happen. I can’t even pack a blow dryer (fortunately, the hotel has one…or so they say).

Sometimes it’s hard being a girl.

Monday, Monday

I have a case of the disappearing weekend. Where did it go? What did I do? And now it’s Monday again.

We went to Arkansas on Saturday. The Harley store there had demo rides and Biker Dude wanted to test ride some of the other bikes. So we took a day trip and had a great time. Sadly, I left my favorite sweater in a restaurant between here and there. 😥 . Now I need to replace it.

Sunday was all about laundry and NASCAR. But I made the mistake of lying down on the sofa and I slept during the last 100 laps. (Note to self: Nap during pre-race, not the end of the race).

Anyone watch the Emmy Awards last  night? Biker Dude commented that we don’t really watch a lot of the shows that were award winners. So maybe our TV watching tastes are….obscure. Or eclectic.  Oh well.

This week it’s all about revisions. Yes, still. I’m really hoping to finish it up this week. Fingers crossed.

How was your weekend? And what’s on your agenda this week?
