This That & The Other Thing Monday

#2 Son has descended from California with his dog and will be visiting for a couple weeks, always a great time of year for me because I love having him here. He’s a high school teacher so summer is the only time we get to see him. I can’t even begin to explain how enjoyable it is to have him around. Even though I have to work, he tosses his laptop on the table across from mine, does his thing while I do mine, and we work companionably together, occasionally stopping to talk to each other. He’s a great kid…okay, so he’ll be 28 this year and so not a kid anymore. :giggle:

Working on the new book. Found out something about my heroine that rocked me back on my heels and will force me to take my book in an unexpected direction. That’s always fun when that happens. And no, I don’t always know everything about my characters until I sit down and start writing them. As I do, they reveal bits and pieces of their backgrounds to me. This was a big one and will provide a huge twist in this book that I hadn’t expected, but I think will deepen the emotional conflict between my characters. Yay!

In other news, TAKEN BY SIN releases next Tuesday, the 23rd! I’ll pop up an excerpt tomorrow. In the meantime, go read Greta’s review Thank you Greta!

This week, I’ll be visiting with the son, writing writing writing….and uh….writing.

Oh, and watching my usual way too much of reality tv. The Bachelorette and So You Think You Can Dance are my two favorites for this summer. Anyone else watching these?

What’s on tap for y’all this week?

HE’S THE SEXY DEMON HUNTER WHO JUST SAVED HER LIFE. NOW SHE’S ABOUT TO SHOW HIM WHAT SALVATION’S REALLY ABOUT.

It’s a mission that could cost him his career and his life. But the woman he just rescued—his lover for one unforgettable night—has something Dalton desperately needs. That’s why the fearless demon hunter is risking everything to spirit Isabelle to a secret hideaway in the Louisiana bayou. Saving her is one thing. Banishing the demon inside her is another. Especially when this gorgeous seductress brings out the devil in him.

Isabelle can see the passion roaring inside Dalton—and it both frightens and arouses her. Is Dalton her enemy or her savior? All she knows is he’s beyond seductive and igniting all sorts of conflicting feelings. All Dalton knows is that they’re both in big trouble—hunted by demons and demon hunters alike in an all-out war for survival. As their pursuers close in and passion overtakes them both, Dalton must make a stunning choice…. Caught between sin and salvation, between darkness and light, will he make the ultimate sacrifice to save the woman he loves?

To be eligible to win an ARC of this book, just let me know in the comments whether your preference is the print or digital ARC, or whether you don’t care either way. (And if you don’t list whether you prefer print or digital your entry will be disqualified. Posting ‘enter me in this contest’ doesn’t count. Sorry.)

I’ll draw the winners on Friday.

DEMONS!!!! :boobie:

Happy Monday!

Is Happy Monday a contradiction in terms? Is there such a thing as Happy Monday? :giggle:

For me there is, because the book from hell is done. Worked over the weekend and put the final touches on that baby. Now it’s finished. Finito. I’ve bid it adieu and it’s off to my editor. I won’t see it again for a while. Commence happy dancing! :boobie:

I know there are some authors out there who are reluctant to say goodbye to a book, to leave the characters they’ve grown to love so much. Um…I’m not one of those authors. By the time I’ve spent 3 or 4 months with a book, I hate it and everything about it, including the characters, who I want to die a slow and painful death. It’s not because the book isn’t good (really, it’s good. Honest!). I just have a very short attention span. So I’m ready to move onto the next book. I envy those authors who can spend a year writing a book. A year with the same plot and characters? I’d have to slit my wrists.

So now that I’m finally dragging myself out of the cave, I have to package up all the things I need to mail that I’ve been ignoring because of this deadline. I’ll get to the post office this week. Thanks to everyone who’s expecting something from me and who’ve been patient enough not to email with “Hey, lazy ass author, where the hell is my stuff?” It’s coming. Honest.

I’d like to say I’m going to take a month off and do nothing but read. (Takes a moment to ponder what that might be like. *sigh*). Unfortunately, the next book is due the first of October, as is my 2nd grandchild (a girl, we just found out! Squeeee!!!!). So I need to bust my ass to get the book written and turned in early so I can enjoy the new baby coming. And I have a couple conferences I’m attending right before the book is due, which is another reason to finish early. So I have to start plotting said book like…yesterday. That’s on my agenda for this week.

What are y’all up to this week? Any fun vacation plans coming up this summer?
