Life in Motion, My Book Stuff

Note: I got halfway through this week in review and figured out today wasn’t Friday. It’s Thursday. That should tell you where my head is. Screw it–I’m doing it anyway.

I know I know my blogging here lately sucks dirty dishwater. But it’s deadline time. And I’ve reworked the storyline ARC and beaten the hell out of my heroine because she was a doormat. Now I’ve got it where I want it, so it’s just a matter of finishing it up. Which means I’m going to be head down and writing my ass off for the next few weeks. Ugh. I promise some semblance of normalcy will return soon. Whatever normal is around here.

Copyedits have arrived for Bound, Branded & Brazen. I’m excited because it’s another step in the process of having the book closer to being finished! Yay! I love these characters and I love this book. And March isn’t so far off. Hopefully soon I’ll have some digital ARCs to give out. :giggle:

New granddaughter should be arriving in a little over 2 weeks. I’m SO excited! Will keep you all posted. And of course will post pics when she’s here.

I was going to attend Lora Leigh’s Reader Appreciation Weekend and the Novelist’s Inc. conference back to back. But my daughter in law’s doctor said baby was head down and she really could deliver any time within the next couple weeks. The thought of being out of town and her going into labor was just unacceptable, so I cancelled both trips. I’m very sad about missing these two wonderful events, but had to put family first. I don’t want to miss the birth of my granddaughter.

The good news about me missing some awesome conferences is I have much guilt over it which means I’ll probably have to do some book giveaways here. Stay tuned.

New Fall TV Season is underway! Survivor premieres tonight! I’m excited!!!!

Have any of you watched Glee? What do you think? I’m liking it…not sure I’m loving it yet.

The Biggest Loser started up again this week. I love watching this show. Jillian is an evil bitch taskmistress and I love her. Watching the way these overweight and out of shape people work out like firebreathing demons makes me feel like a pathetic slug. If this show doesn’t motivate you to get off your ass I don’t know what will.

Dirty Dancing In The Streets

I mourn the loss of Patrick Swayze and offer condolences to his family and friends. He starred in some of my favorite movies like Dirty Dancing, Roadhouse and Ghost and I think the world has lost someone kind, gentle and extremely talented.

I was scrolling through his bio last night after I heard the news, and I’d forgotten he was in The Outsiders. I remember reading that book when I was a kid and being so affected by the war between the greasers and the soc’s (I pronounced it ‘socks’ back then. Hey, I was a kid. How was I supposed to know it was ‘soshes’, or short for society kids? Heh). Anyway, I was talking to my husband about the movie and he told me he’d never seen The Outsiders.

I was appalled. He grew up in Tulsa. S.E. Hinton is from Tulsa. The Outsiders was filmed in Tulsa. Then he further horrified me by telling me he’d never read the book, either. Duuuuuude! Sometimes I just don’t understand men. But I immediately went to Amazon and ordered the movie, mainly because it’s been years since I’d seen it and now I’m going to force him to watch it with me. Hey, it’s my tribute to Patrick Swayze’s younger years.

And while I absolutely loved Dirty Dancing and owned the movie in VHS form and probably watched it eleventy million times, there’s just something about Roadhouse that’s just so sexy and cerebral at the same time. Maybe it was the character of Dalton, played by Swayze, and the internal war he carried out between his fists and his mind. Love love love that movie. And it didn’t hurt that Sam Elliott was in it, too. Yum.

Or To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar. It takes some kind of man to play a full on drag queen in a movie. And Swayze did it so well. I loved his sweet and heartbreaking portrayal of Miss Vida. And he made a damn fine looking woman, too.

And Ghost. *sigh*. I still cry at the end of that movie. Every. Single. Time. And I don’t mean little sniffles, either. I mean great heaping sobs.

Or North and South, the miniseries? I swooned. Seriously.

My reading goes in waves. Sometimes I read a lot, sometimes very little. But with summer waning and my television watching pretty nil these past few weeks, I’ve been doing a ton of reading. And I’ve read some spectacular books.

For me that’s a lot of reading because when I’m knee deep in writing a book, my reading usually suffers. So I’m kind of shocked at how much I’ve read over the past couple months. Of course having my iPhone has really upped my reading. Nothing like having instant satisfaction via Amazon Kindle for my iPhone, plus Stanza and eReader, all of which I can use to download books.

I’m thrilled with all these books I’ve read and highly recommend all of them. I love romantic suspense and contemporary romance, which seem to be my favorite genres right now.

So tell me what you’ve been reading this summer and what you’ve loved. I have a lot of books I’ve bought but haven’t read yet. That’s what I love about my iPhone. Always several books sitting there for me to choose from. :boobie:
