FYI

Received from Allison Kent and wanted to pass this along.

“One of our own, author Jo Leigh (aka Jolie Kramer) lost her husband on June 13 after he courageously battled cancer. If you don’t know their story which is the stuff romance novels are made of, you can read it here and see their wedding picture here.

In addition to being a fabulous friend to so many and a mulit-RITA nominated author who has written for Harlequin Blaze, Temptation, Intrigue, Special Projects, Silhouette Intimate Moments and Meteor Kismet, Jo is known across the country for the amazing writing classes she teaches, including one on plotting that is incomparable. She has been incredibly generous to so many in sharing her knowledge and expertise.

Unfortunately, Jo has been left with a lot of medical expenses she will be struggling to cover as they had no health insurance, and we would like to help her out by holding several fundraising auctions. If you have items to donate – books or book baskets/collections, critiques, ARCs of upcoming releases, mentoring opportunities, web or promotional material design work etc., please email the item description to the following email address: forjoleigh@gmail.com. This is the address we’re using to organize the items.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Alison Kent, HelenKay Dimon, Larissa Ione, Stephanie Tyler

If you’d like to help out with monetary donations, contact any of the authors via email via their contact pages and let them know. And if you can pass the word, it would be appreciated. I’ll keep you informed about the auction.

Um, Ego Much?

So this article made me laugh.

I love Greys Anatomy. I love all the characters. I think the creator, Shonda Rhimes, is freakin brilliant. But I guess Katherine Heigl didn’t get to be star on GA this year, so she’s not submitting her work for Emmy consideration, even though she won the Emmy last year and the show was still in the top 10 this year. (Hmmm, maybe she’s afraid she won’t get an Emmy nod at all this year so she doesn’t want to chance the humiliation? Stars and their egos, ya know)

Uh huh. Well, Izzy, Denny can’t die every year and you can’t be the star of the show every year.

So how about we let Miranda get the Emmy nod this year (omg she’s fabulous)? Or Christina? Or Callie. Or George. Or any one of the ensemble cast who deserve it because they acted their socks off. You can just go sit in the corner and pout because you weren’t given ‘the material’ that’s Emmy worthy.

Dude. :eyeroll: Sorry, but I see this as a serious case of biting the hand that feeds you.

(I’m thinking Shonda is sitting in her office plotting next season and how the character of Izzy is gonna d-i-e). :giggle:

Disney vs M.A.C.

(And no, we’re not talking a Mac computer here, either)

Last night we babysit our almost 5 year old granddaughter for awhile. So we hung out, had dinner, colored, played, then settled in to watch MEET THE ROBINSONS.

Until Ashley, our 19 year old daughter came over.

Now Michelle, our granddaughter, thinks Ashley is like this goddess who walks on water. The world comes to a complete stop whenever she’s around. Ashley stopped by to take a shower and get ready so she could go out night bowling with her friends.

You know what this meant, of course. As soon as Ashley started doing girlie things and dragged out the ‘makeup’, any hope of a Disney movie was lost.

Biker Dude got up and started paying bills. Michelle was lost in the world of eyeliner, blush, blowdryers and nail polish with her aunt.

Guess who was left watching MEET THE ROBINSONS?

Yes. Me.

It’s a really cute movie. I enjoyed it. :giggle:
