March 20th Book Giveaway

THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED AND THE WINNERS HAVE BEEN CHOSEN

There are so many awesome authors out there, with great, ongoing series. And some are my absolute favorites that I think everyone should be reading. And some of you probably are. And some of you maybe aren’t. So I’m going to spotlight a few of my favorite authors with ongoing series. Today it’s Meljean Brook and her Guardian series.

The first book in Meljean’s Guardian series is Demon Angel (yes I know there was a novella before that, but I’m counting the first single title):

demon-angel

For two thousand years, Lilith wrought vengeance upon the evil and the damned, gathering souls for her father’s armies Below and proving her fealty to her Underworld liege. Bound by a bargain with the devil and forbidden to feel pleasure, she draws upon her dark powers and serpentine grace to lead men into temptation. That is, until she faces her greatest temptation—Heaven’s own Sir Hugh Castleford…

Once a knight and now a Guardian, Hugh spent centuries battling demons—and the cursed, blood-drinking nosferatu. His purpose has always been to thwart the demon Lilith, even as he battles his treacherous hunger for her. But when a deadly alliance unleashes a threat to both humans and Guardians in modern-day San Francisco, angel and demon must fight together against unholy evil—and against a desire that has been too long denied…

Who will be the first to succumb?

This book is…amazing. I just can’t say enough about it. And I want everyone to read it so you can catch up in this incredible series. Because right now if you haven’t been reading the series, you’re several books behind. And once you read Demon Angel, believe me, you’re going to want to catch up.

To be eligible to win this book, let’s talk about catching up. What book or tv series did you choose to pass on, then regretted it when it turned out to be a hit because then you had to play catch up? For me, it’s 24 for television. We never watched it, and now I’m buying the seasons on DVD. On Season 3 right now and have a love/hate relationshp with Jack Bauer. But by God I will catch up. Heh. For books, it’s definitely the J.D. Robb series. Omg I’m like 100 books behind(slight exaggeration but it feels that way to me). I love love love this series, but damn I may never catch up.

Please don’t panic if your comment doesn’t appear right away. Some comments are being moderated and I’ll grab them and release them.

Because my blog is being a giant pain in the ass and holding comments in moderation and in spam and it takes me a bit to go find them, I’m going to choose winners at the end of every week, on Saturday, instead of every day. So check back every Saturday to see if you’re one of the weekly book winners. Because I’m not going to hunt the winners down. You have to come here to see if you’ve won and then contact me with your info (Other than ARCS being sent by the authors offering them, I’ll be shipping all the winning books directly from Amazon). Otherwise, come back every day for a new book giveaway. And don’t forget the grand prize contest plus all the rules about the daily contest giveaways here

(Please don’t enter me in the drawing, as I have all the books in the series–including the novella 😀 )

I’m trying to play catch up with a number of series–Kresley Cole and Gena Showalter at the top of the list. I’m anal erm… obsessive enough to have the first five in one and the first three in the other series, even though I’ve yet to crack the first open.

And it’s not as if I weren’t reading all the time, either!

Too many authors, too many series, too many books–not enough hours in my life!

I have all Meljean’s books, so please don’t enter me. I just wanted to say that this a wonderful series. It truly was one that I couldn’t put down. I can’t wait to read Demon Forged and Oh my the cover for that book is awesome.

As for today’s question a a show that I caught on reruns is NCIS. I love that show. So now I think I’m caught up. USA had a marathon.

Books, I too caught the JD Robb series when it was on it’s 24th book. I bought all of them at one time and caught up. My friend still teases me about that til this day. I read 24 books in 14 days. I hardly slept. But I couldn’t put them down.

I have been looking at those books for a while, they look so good 🙂

Well since I live where I live, I mostly know which shows are supposed to be really good when they get here.
But shows I discovered on my own and had to catch up on were Reaper and Primeval, too funny shows

I am playing catch up with Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changelings Series. So far, I have read Slave To Sensation and Visions of Heat. So many people recommended Nalini’s books to me that I finally caved and started reading them. They are so good. I love them.

    Melissa says:

There are several for me….Shelly Laurenstons books….it took me a while of hearing Joy rave before I picked them up, then I had to glom them FAST. Oh, and JR Ward, she was on the 4th book before I played catch up w/ that series.
I’m amazed at how many wonderful books are out there that I’ve missed….and love discovering an author I love when she has many books for me to catch up with. It’s like an all u can read smorgasboard!!

    Jody F. says:

The show I’m definitely on the bandwagon of is Big Bang Theory. I didn’t watch its first season until a friend lowned me her dvds. Now I’m obsessed over it and have a huge crush on Sheldon. He just cracks me up.

    Tamsyn says:

I have heard a lot about JR Ward and her books but I have not read any of them yet. I’m always thinking of getting one of them soon but never seem to get around to it! As someone said before, there is never enough time to read all the books I have! Tamsyn

    Greta says:

I’m playing catching with several authors: Lara Adrian, Gena Showalter, Nalini Singh, yourself and I still need to buy and read Meljean Brook.

  11. 11
    Blanche says:

I didn’t watch 24 either when it first started and I wish I had. I hear about the show each week when I call my Mom, she loves it!!

For books, I would say Lisa Kleypas!!

  12. 12
    Jennifer M says:

I’m catching up on Christine Feehan, slowly but surely. I recently just got caught up on Nalini Singh- and now almost wished I hadn’t so quickly- it seems like along time until her next release and I’m not very patient 🙂

  13. 13

Um…. catching up? Not sure about TV shows, mainly because I don’t have DVR and haven’t broken down enough to buy/rent a series.

Book wise, I did just visit B&N and get three books, all of which were first in the series (and I’m at work and don’t have them with me) I will confess that I found all three in the sci-fi area instead of romance, although I’m a romance girl at heart.

    jeanne sheats says:

For me it was Lost. I missed the first episode and my mother told me she thought it wasn’t any good. I could have caught up but didn’t bother after she said that. Well then a long while later I find out my mother gave it another chance and it’s her favorite show!!!!! By then I would have been totally “lost” if I had tried to catch up arghhhhhh.

  15. 15
    Erika R says:

The tv series Lost. I watched all four prior seasons in a couple months so I was able to catch up. Love the show now. And Feehan’s Shadow Walkers series.

  16. 16
    Raonaid Luckwell says:

I’m trying to catch up with Legend of the Seeker and House. I love those two series!

As in books.. I’m behind in Dodd’s paranormal series, Marjorie’s series.

Manga- Canterella and Seimaden and Kami Kaze

  17. 17
    Lillie A says:

For TV series, I agree with you on 24. I only started watching it halfway through season 2. I LOVE playing catch up on book series. When you read a new one and love it, it’s nice to have a bunch already out to devour without having to wait months for the next release.

  18. 18
    Roberta Harwell says:

In tv land I would have to say Saving Grace. My hubby has the tv when this show is on so I’m behind this season. For books, Patricia Cornwell, the Scarpetta series, was a big one for me. I stopped reading the series when I lost all of the books in a fire. I haven’t had the heart to start back again. I may someday. Have a great day. Please enter me in this contest.

  19. 19

For tv, pretty much nothing right now. The only thing I watch is The Biggest Loser, but I have from the beginning.

Um, book-wise, probably Nora. I know, I know. I’ve read one JD Robb book (the first In Death) and plan to get the rest in that series and I read my first NR book, Blood Brothers, and now I need to get the other two in that series.

    Hi Jaci:

Well, there is Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter Series. I’ve read up to about book 7 but I still have a few more to go before I can read “Acheron” that is sitting on my shelf.

Then there is Jaci Burton’s Demon Hunter series. I’ve got all of them sitting in my TBR waiting for me, and she has another one due out soon! Did you know that? lol

    Thanks Jaci,

    Have a great weekend.

    Christine M. says:

The TV show I’m catching up on is NCIS and as for authors… well there are many of them, but amongst them are Nalini Singh and Kim Harrisson… Their books are in the TBR box.

  22. 22
    Rhonda Barnes says:

I missed out on the tv series “Heroes”. I’m not much of a tv watcher but I’m trying to catch up!

    Blessings,

    Pam Griffith says:

The TV series that I never watched but now I watch is Numb3rs. I now own the first two season and am getting the next two seasons on DVD.

For books it is the Janet Evanovich – Stephanie Plum books – I have read every book in her series so far.

  24. 24
    Fedora says:

For TV, it’s BSG–thankfully (!?) it’s wrapping up though, so I actually have a chance to get caught up eventually! For books, it’s both JDRobb and Evanovich’s Plum books… there are SO many now I may never catch up!

  25. 25
    Jeanette Juan says:

I have recently become hooked on the tv show The Office which is hilarious. I’ve bought and rented some of the seasons to play catch up and hopefully I’ll be able to get through them all.
I also recently became interested in Nalini Singh’s Psy series and am getting closer and closer to catching up before the new book comes out.

  26. 26
    limecello says:

Um… I… well I played catch up with Kresley Cole’s books but I caught up very quickly.
Same with Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changeling books
For tv, though I’m generally the opposite. I start with it, then … drop it :X (Or the show gets canceled.) Sad.

  27. 27
    RachG says:

Oh my gosh! For TV, I have just discovered MAD MEN and am really loving it!

As for books, I was one of the last people to read the J.R. Ward “Brotherhood” series and I enjoyed them as well. It was shocking that they had such a following. 🙂

  28. 28
    Sandy H. says:

    Hi,
For the TV series, it’s “Lost”. I have been trying to catch up from Season 1 since last year, but at times finding myself slightly befuddled by all the plots and twists.
For the book series, it’s “Gossip Girls” *whispers*. I passed on it for the longest time, thinking that it’s just teenage fluff…and it is, but such addictive fluff.
    Have a great weekend.

  29. 29
    Terri says:

Actually, I passed on Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum books which I now buy as they come out. And I’m working on getting all of Meljean Brook’s books after getting introduced to her Guardian series when I was sent one of her books to review.

    Terri

    Catherine Burke (nee Burton)! says:

Mad Men for sure – cannot get enough of it & believe it or not Leon Uris – tried the books when I was a teen – now cannot get enought of them

  31. 31
    Jane says:

I didn’t watch “NCIS” and “Criminal Minds” when it first premiered. I ended up watching the previous seasons of “NCIS” on USA and “Criminal Minds” on A&E. I didn’t start reading Stephanie Laurens’ Cynster series until the tenth book was released.

  32. 32
    Lexee says:

For tv it would probably be NCIS. I didn’t watch it when it first came out or when I first noticed it, my mom did. Then I got into it.

  33. 33
    Larena Wirum says:

I am trying to get caught up on Kelley Armstrong’s Otherworld series, Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunters and a few other series. Too many new books coming out all the time and I get side tracked. LOL 🙂

  34. 34
    PhyllisC says:

I can’t think of any tv shows that I feel like I missed out on. I don’t bother to try to catch up because I figure it would be too time consuming so I just don’t bother. LOL
Army Wives is the only one I’ve thought about trying to get into – my DIL loves the show. Can’t think of any books, probably because I read so many it’s hard to miss any.

  35. 35
    Becky Ward says:

For tv shows it would be Criminal Minds, I love that show. I haven’t watch any of the first season yet. I just started watching it on tv last year. 24 hours I watch the first season, but haven’t watch to much of it since so I have to catch up. For books, to many authors and to many series, but I am trying to catch up on Christine Feehan’s Dark series and Drake Sister series.

This blog entry just hit my Google Reader at 8:14 this morning. *rolls eyes at Google*

Nip/Tuck, Desperate Housewives, Battlestar Gallactica, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Brothers & Sisters, Grey’s Anatomy….there are so many.

    It makes me sad.

  37. 37
    MJ says:

I’d have to say Lost. I’m still not caught up!

  38. 38
    KristieJ says:

The television show I wish I’d started seasons ago is Battlestar Gallactica. The finale is this weekend and while I’ve watched some episodes here and there – mostly I’m just lost.
I can’t think of any series I’m missing really. I was very late to the In Death party but I’ve managed to get caught up. The same goes for the Stephanie Plum books.
Oh – Wait! I thought of one. The Kresly Cole books. I have them all but haven’t gotten to reading them yet.

  39. 39
    Melissa Conatser says:

I am playing catch up on House. I don’t watch much, unless it is something I have on my DVR. A friend told me to try House and gave me Season 1 to borrow, and now I am hooked.

  40. 40
    Tasha W. says:

Mine are for books. I only discovered Christine Feehan and Sherrilyn Kenyon last year, so I had to read a LOT last year. It was such a burden! 😛

  41. 41
    Sue T. says:

Please don’t enter me in the contest because I have Meljean’s book although I have to admit that it is in my massive TBR pile. 🙂 But, I got hooked on Closer recently after watching it at my aunts so I have it programmed on my Tivo to tape anything when it comes on. I have done this with a bunch of shows including One Tree Hill. I missed the 1st Season of Idol when Kelly Clarkson won but have watched everyone since. I also missed Law & Order and NCIS from the beginning but try to catch up on Tivo with the old episodes. One day I will add them to my mammoth list for Christmas for season series to get. Oh, Gilmour Girls is one. My brother, niece and I watch these all together on DVD. How did we ever miss these when they were on? They are so smart and funny. We love them. Can you tell I do this all the time? Find something afterward that I love to watch. 🙂

    cheryl kellery says:

I’m catching up on Linda Lael Miller books and am enjoying them. Also Two and A Half Men – never realized how hilarious that show as until a couple seasons ago.

  43. 43
    Donna S says:

For TV Shows it was Lost. I didnt start to watch it until close to the end of last season and had to play catchup. For books it was JD Robbs In Death Series. I didnt start it until Oct 07 and it was all I read until I caught up. I couldnt put them down. Next I am going to start either Christine Feehan or JR Ward.

  44. 44
    Eshani says:

In terms of tv series, I would have to say I’ve only recently discovered Grey’s Anatomy..I used to watch it, then missed several seasons, and am just starting to get back into it again..but I’m way behind now..
I’ve never tried this series, but I’ve heard many good things about it..
