Fabulous Friday

Is it just me, or has it been a really long damn week?

Making great progress on RIDING ON INSTINCT. Even despite Biker Dude taking two days vacation to work outside on lawn and garden things, and me wanting to be outside with him, so that ate into my writing just a bit. But it was warm and sunny and honestly how could I resist the lure of summer? Plus we’re doing some massive overhauling of the front yard and I wanted to help out. Still, I managed 13K for the first four days this week. Now I have to push it because my goal is 20K a week until the book is done.

I started a tomato plant yesterday in a container. Never done a container tomato plant before, so we’ll see how that goes. I know it’s a little late. That seems to be my motto this year. A little late. Ugh. But I got a great looking plant that already has a few tomatoes on it. Hopefully it’ll yield for me. (I LOVE homegrown tomatoes).

Tomorrow is Biker Dude’s annual company picnic. They fry fish, then everyone else brings a side or a dessert, so I have to bring something. I think I’ll make zucchini bread. Another project for me to do today. I haven’t made zucchini bread in a really long time and I found a great recipe. I really do enjoy cooking and baking. I just don’t tend to do a lot of it because by the time I get to that point in the day my brain and body are tired. This week, though, I was determined to cook and I did. I made two new recipes and they turned out great. I made a steak salad, then a chicken waldorf salad and both were really good. (Cooking while on deadline is exhausting…just sayin’ :giggle: )

Hopefully those 40mph winds we’ve been having the past couple days are over now. I’d hate to blow away at the picnic tomorrow.

Any fun plans for the weekend?

New Book Release!

I’ve followed blogger Teri Brown’s journey from before she had an agent until today, the day of her debut book’s release, and I couldn’t be happier for her. Today her first Young Adult book releases, and I can’t wait to read READ MY LIPS. Take a look at the trailer below and buy the book! It looks awesome!

You can check out Teri’s blog here, and read more about/order the book from here at her website.

Congrats Teri! :cheer:

Update!

Short weeks due to holidays mess with my head. I never know what day it is. So today’s Thursday, right?

Galleys for Riding Temptation are finished! I’ll be faxing corrected pages over to my editor this morning. Which means I don’t have to read the book anymore! Gah. It’s so hard to get to this point in a book. By this time I’ve written the book, edited the book, edited the book, reread the book, revised the book, reread the book, read through copyedits and then had to read the final typeset books, I’m so done. Sort of :giggle: . Because oh man is it difficult during the galley stage not to want to make changes again (they really frown on that :giggle: ). It’s always hard for an author–or at least for THIS author–to let go. But I did. It’s done and gone and reading through the story I really, really like it and hope you do too when it releases.

So all the projects are done and I can finally get back to Riding On Instinct, my book due…gulp…July 1st. I’m way behind! Hopefully nothing else will show up to sidetrack me between now and then. :chair:

On an exciting note, my Samhain editor asked me to write a Christmas story, so for those of you who fell in love with Mitch in last year’s holiday story, UNWRAPPED, he’ll be getting his own book in this year’s UNRAVELED. Look for it in December at Samhain! (And if you haven’t met Mitch yet, now’s a good time to read Unwrapped).

Off to write! :devilwhip:
