I loved Colleen’s first book in the Gardella Vampire Chronicles, The Rest Falls Away. Such a unique twist on the standard vampire fare. Victoria is a Regency vampire hunter. So it feeds my love of historicals with my equal love of paranormals. And speaking of love, I fell madly in love with this series after the first book and couldn’t wait for the second.
The second book, Rises the Night, released this week.

Victoria Gardella is a Venator, a vampire hunter. She learned about her legacy and duties in the first book, and lost much in the process. In the second book, Rises The Night, she takes on her responsibilites with a much somber outlook on her future.
It was wonderful to see Victoria grow, to watch each step she took in this book. She wants revenge for those she lost, she’s sadder and wiser now, and her skills grow. But she’s also flawed, and that’s what I love about her. She continues to make mistakes through her journey (I hate perfect heroines so I adore this about her), and we watch her learn from those mistakes.
The cast of supporting characters is perfect, the men in her life are sexy and to die for (no pun intended…or maybe intended..heh), and Colleen always leaves you guessing and dying (punning again, aren’t I?) for the next book in the series, because you just HAVE to know what happens next. It’s exciting, mysterious, adventurous, sensual and heartbreaking.
I never like to give away too much of the plotline, but I adore this series. I highly recommend both books in the Gardella Vampire Chronicles.
And Colleen gave me an AWESOME t-shirt. You know, if I just had one of her vampire stakes to go with it, my trips to Wal Mart would be so much more fun. :giggle:
