Eden shut down the landing system, blinking away a century
of sleep. She checked each of the remaining five pods. All
were in working order. They were still in stasis, their biological
functions registering normal.
Over a hundred years and everything she'd known of Earth
was gone, obliterated by the global meltdown from a nuclear
war no one thought would ever occur.
Thankfully NASA and the United Nations had a plan. Twenty-Six
space pods with six people in each had been launched into orbit
before the war began. Biostasis kept their bodies alive while
orbiting Earth until it became habitable again.
Location readings indicated the other ships hadn't landed
yet. She had time. Her father had left specific instructions,
loaded into the ship's mainframe. She fought back tears, mourning
his death as if it had just occurred. For her, it had.
But now there was work to do. And that work started with
Adam.
Sucking in a breath of courage, she stepped to Adam's pod
and stared down at his sleeping form. Only a space blanket
covered his lower body, giving her a close-up view of his broad
chest and shoulders and a face that was hauntingly beautiful.
Strong, rugged features. Long nose, square jaw, a hint of stubble
and a mouth that made her pussy wet just imagining what he
could do with those full lips. Black hair that was a little
too long for her tastes, but it curled at the ends and she
found that oh so.sexy.
He was perfect. She'd never seen a more beautiful man before.
And she hadn't expected to find him on board her ship. Her
father's revelation had shocked her.
Savior? How could one man be their savior?
As a scientist she was trained to be skeptical. Her father's
notes didn't make sense, yet she trusted him implicitly. What
she would be required to do with Adam made her body flush with
heat. Besides, Adam might not find her appealing. What was
attractive about dull blonde hair, nondescript hazel eyes and
a body that spent too much time in the lab and not enough in
exercise? Why hadn't father confided in her before he put her
in that pod? Why hadn't her told her about Adam, about his
discoveries, about their future?
She missed her father so much. Not only was he the most brilliant
scientist in NASA, he was her whole life. She had gladly followed
him into space research. He'd raised her alone after her mother
died. How was she going to make it without him? Why had he
insisted on remaining behind, giving Adam his spot in the pod?
None of that mattered now. What was done was done and she'd
put her emotions aside as her father had taught her. Emotion
had no place in science. Swiping the tears from her cheeks,
she zipped up her cloth jumpsuit and pressed the buttons on
Adam's pod, scanning the readings as the system slowly brought
him to alert status.
His biological readings were bizarre. From the readings,
he should be having a stroke right now. Instead, his chest
rose slowly, his respirations typical for an adult human male.
Weird. Must be a system glitch.
The pod's vacuum seal broke with a loud hiss. She grabbed
the jumpsuit that had been prepared for Adam and stood beside
the pod, watching for any signs of space sickness.
His breathing seemed normal, but he wasn't awake. She reached
into his pod and searched for the pulse at his neck, her fingers
pressing down on very hot skin.
Fever? Couldn't be. The bio signs didn't indicate any illness.
She gasped when a hand encircled her wrist. Her gaze flew to
his face and she was greeted by deep pools of turquoise. His
lips curled upward in a smile.
"Eden."
Her heart slammed against
her ribs. "Adam. We've landed
on Earth."
Still holding her wrist, he climbed out of the pod. She fought
the urge to gape at his naked body, but couldn't resist as
he unfolded his massive frame.
At five-foot-seven she wasn't small. But Adam was huge! At
least six-four, maybe six-five, with long legs, muscular thighs
and a cock so long and thick her throat went dry. She was supposed
to.with that ?! It was erect and pulsing, the mushroomed head
an angry purple.
"Do I pass inspection,
Dr. Mason?"
Embarrassed at being caught
staring, she glanced up, her cheeks burning. "I.needed
to assess you for any signs of space sickness."
"Traveling in space
doesn't affect me in the least. I've done it thousands of
times."
Thousands? It was hard to believe she stood in front of an
alien, someone from another planet. All their research, the
work she and her father had done, and Adam had been under her
nose for two years and her father hadn't told her.
Why? "My father left.notes."
Adam looked around the
tiny space capsule and then back at her, nodding. "This
place is too constricting. Let's go outside."
She handed him the jumpsuit. He took it and laid it in the
pod.
"Aren't you going
to get dressed?"
He rubbed her wrist with
his thumb and she was certain he could feel her racing pulse. "I
don't need clothes yet. No one can see me but you."
Oh, God. What had her father done to her? The way Adam looked
at her was more than a little disconcerting. She'd spent all
her time in labs conducting experiments and barely possessed
rudimentary social skills. Like her father, she was a hermit,
preferring computers and biological formulas to socializing.
Adam led her to the doorway, pressing the buttons on the
pad as if he knew exactly what to do.
The hatch flew open and Eden held her breath. He lowered
the stairs and stepped out first, turning and holding her hand
as she came down.
She blinked at the landscape, fighting back tears at all
they had lost.
Nothing but a barren wasteland. No plants, animals, buildings
or people. It was as if Earth had been wiped clean, leaving
nothing but a brown landscape.
"It won't be like
this for long. I'll take care of it. First, I need replenishing."
They'd landed on what used
to be a beach, though the sand wasn't white, it was granite
black. At least the ocean looked
clear and normal. Adam tugged her along and then stopped at
a level piece of land near the water. "This is a good
spot."
A good spot for what? She was about to ask when Adam closed
his eyes. The ground rumbled under her feet, the landscape
shimmering like an oasis in the desert. Emerald green grass
appeared, along with palm trees and white sand. At least fifty
yards of land had been transformed and filled with sweetly
scented flowers, shrubs and trees. Her mouth hung open and
she looked at Adam, who smiled.
"Did you.how?"
"Yes I did and I'll explain later." His gaze turned
hot, his eyes a dark, stormy blue as he shifted to face her,
caressing her cheek with the back of his hand. "I need
you, Eden. I'm weakening already."
Weakening? He looked fine to her. More than fine. His body
hummed with life force stronger than anything she'd ever felt.
Her body responded with an immediate sexual response that swelled
her breasts, heated her core and shocked the hell out of her.
"You have to help
me replenish my power so I can create a new world for us.
Your father explained?"
She gulped and nodded, her gaze shifting to his still-erect
cock.
"Good. Because I need
to fuck you right now or I'll die."
