The Fab 5 of February 5th! And Contest

CONTEST CLOSED!!!

On February 5th, not only does Riding Wild release, but 4 of my friends have book releases too. so we decided we’d run a blog contest in honor of all our books releasing together, and to make it fun for readers to get to know all of us.

All the info after the jump

So we put together 5 different questions, and we’re all going to answer them, each of us answering a different question on each blog.

And we’ll all be giving away prizes on our blogs!

Meljean is giving away a copy of Demon Angel and Demon Moon.

Dakota will be giving away a $25 gift certificate from Amazon.

Joey will be giving away winner’s choice copy of Vampire Queen’s Servant or Mark of the Vampire Queen.

Nalini will be giving away an autographed copy of An Enchanted Season.

I’ll be giving away an autographed copy of Wild Wicked & Wanton and Exclusive. Or if the winner has already read those, they have their choice of any two books from my backlist.

All you have to do to be eligible to win is answer the question we answer on each of our blogs.

The contest will run from today through Sunday, February 3rd.

Here’s the question everyone answered on my blog:

You’ve got one week off. No work to do at all. And it’s the only week you’re going to get all year. Where do you go?

The answers:

Jaci: Any place that has a beach, an ocean, great food, tons of privacy and no phone service. And laptops would be forbidden.

Dakota: Shopping :)

Meljean: Paris. I’ll take my husband, my daughter, and walk through the city and the Louvre until our feet fall off. And when they fall off, I’ll cozy up on a chair and try to catch up on my TBR pile, coffee and croissant by my side.

Nalini: It depends on the mood. Say I’m wiped out - then I’m going to go to Fiji, lie on a beach, eat mangos, drink fresh coconut juice, and generally move to Pacific Time. (Pacific Time is its own alternate universe - everything goes slow, slow, and it’s all good).

If I’m feeling a bit more energetic, I’d probably strap on a backpack and head off somewhere exotic. I have seriously itchy feet and there are so many countries I want to see. The Incan ruins are definitely on the list so maybe there!

Joey: the Grand Canyon. I’ve always wanted to go, and since I’ve been studying Nevada deserts and the surrounding natural areas for A Mermaid’s Kiss and A Witch’s Beauty, the long stretches of arid land with so many beautiful colors and quiet spaces have intrigued me – I could explore the whole area. It would be great to get a little stone cottage located somewhere in proximity to both the Grand Canyon and the Nevada deserts and spend time exploring and sleeping out under the stars (though with indoor plumbing close by – lol).

To be eligible to win my prize, answer the question! Then go to these other blogs below and play to win their prizes. Links below!

  2. I would go to New York, I want to hit Broadway, see as many shows as I can and have a yummy slice of pizza.

  3. If money wasn’t an issue, I would go to Australia.

  4. I would like to say Scotland or Spain. But If it were really the only week off for the whole year, I would go to freaking Ohio.
To visit my sister and family. I’m so Boring……. :O)

  5. I would go to New York and visit museums, friends, great restauraunts, and see a show.

  6. a week off, money is not an issue… I’m thinking either Hawaii with a cabana boy thrown in (sorry hubby) or Scotland and find me a braw man (again, sorry dear).

if money is an issue I’d probably just lay around the house and read books. ^_^

  7. I would take my brother and go to see the pyramids of Egypt and King Tut’s tomb. I’ve always wanted to go there. :bananahump:

  8. Hi Jaci :)

If money were not an issue, I’d head off someplace in outside the US to travel. I fell in love with Scotalnd when I was there so it’s tempting to say Edinburgh, but I might head off to somplace new. I’ve never been to Venice so that’d be fun. Or Ireland. Or Australia and visit friends. Or….so many choices.

In it’s likely the choices would be too much and if I only had a week off I’d spend it sleeping and reading. How boring is that? LOL.

    Kat

  9. Hawaii during whale season. I would love to sit on the patio and watch the whales breeching. Although, I sure wouldn’t want to be seen in a bathing suit.

  10. I have always wanted to go to Spain but most especially Andalucia…this will probably sound corny but I fell in love with the area when I heard this great description of it in a Harlequin Presents novel when I was 14. Ever since then I have looked up information on my own and I can’t get enough of it I hope that when I graduate this year from CSUB I can go and fulfill a dream for real. Have a good one and thanks for writing such wonderful books, sometimes they are my vacation spots when I can’t actually go anywhere physically but in my head when I am reading I can go anywhere!! LoL Helen Gonzalez aka helenhikaru Myspace

  11. A week off, I would stay home ,curl up on the couch under a blanket, have some snacks by my side, and grab my favorite books and DVD’s.Read and watch DVD’s all week long.

  12. Oh I would love to take another cruise and it could be to anywhere!!

  13. I would take a road trip to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. I want to visit and volunteer there for a few days. Plus it’s not far from the Grand Canyon so I would visit it too.

  14. For sure, I’m going to spend the last two days sitting in bed and resting-probably with a book or two (or more), movies, and chocolate. Can’t fly anywhere far for one week, but will either go to the mountains one day, beach the next, shop around, musuems, zoos and aquariums. Hmmm…this is starting to sound more and more fun… :glee:

  15. I would go to Spain. I am minoring in Spanish and would love to immerse myself in their culture and language for a week.

  16. If money weren’t an option hubby and I would go to Great Britain. It has been a dream for both of us to go together someday when he had the time and the money.

  17. A beautiful deserted beach. With a pile of romance books that are amazingly good. Life couldn’t get much better.

  18. I’d find a nice, quiet “bed and breakfast”, in
the Texas Hill Country, with a lot of “NOs”,
especially NO television and NO internet
connections! Just Honey and I, getting lots of rest and relaxation, and lots of good food!

    Pat Cochran

  19. Mexico - swim up bar, some kind of kids club for the kids, pool volleyball for dh and poolboy for me :hips:

  20. I really don’t know but I have always wanted to go to Scotland and then maybe travel through England after to visit my hubby’s family there.

  21. I’d go to Vegas and take my mom with me :o) Just hang out, catch some shows and do some shopping. Be fun. Course anyplace that’s warmer than here would be great :glee:

  22. I would spend my time in Mendocino Ca. I have fallen madly in love with the quaint little town, beaches, shops and the restuarants. If my hubby would agree to it I’d live there permenantly. But, for now I have to content myself with visits a couple time a year.

  23. I would love to go rafting again on the Colorado River and view the gorgeous Grand Canyon. Its awesome.

  24. I would go to Alaska.

  28. Only one week? OH.. not long enough. If only a week.. I’d go back to Yosemite. It is one our family’s favorite vacation spots. There is nothing more restful than walking in the valley. I’d want to go in the winter time so I could go cross country skiing there.

  29. Time travelling - the possibilities are endless OR off-world - another planet, or the future, don’t care where - adventure calls!!!

  30. I’d want to find some deserted beach, with warm temps and a stash of books. OK, let’s make that almost-deserted beach. I wouldn’t mind some single hottie distracting me.

  31. If money was no object I would love to visit Australia and if it was then a nice beach on the coast of the good ole usa would suit.

  32. A deserted island where I could have the beach all to myself. :glee:

  33. Assuming I had the funds *grin* I’d spend the week in Paris–probably most of it in the Louvre, with a couple of side trips to the Catacombs and the Pere Lachaise Cemetery.

This is such a fun idea, thank you ladies!

  34. A week on a sailboat, on calm seas, with a well-stocked galley, a box full of books, and the one I love.

  35. Don’t enter me, I’m just here to test out the new plugin I installed on your blog. Isn’t it spiffy? :boobie:

Maybe you should send me books ;)

  36. I would have to go to whatever city Michael Buble was in having a concert that I just happened to have fabulous seats for. When not at the concert I would be going to new and exciting restuarant. The rest of the time would be spent searching through every used book store in the area, spending way too much money. Hey this sound like a great plan - lucky me I have tickets and a trip planned in march.

  37. Oh I would hit the races!! spend the whole week at a nascar race with all the qualing and race car drivers!! Yummy!! Lol

  44. Lets try this again…

I’d book passage on Virgin Galactic and blast myself off into space with some hot stud, preferably this guy :charlie: for a weightless indecency..

    :buttwiggle:

  45. I love the ocean, sun and surf - away to a beach to laze away, drink and play with the surfer boys.

  52. Guadalajara, Mexico. I fell in love with the city when I studied at the university down there. There is such a diversity of things to do that I don’t think I could get bored. And if I did, there’s a beach only 3 hours away.

  53. Hmm… I would go back in time to witness marvels that no longer exist… the great library of Alexandria, the Colossus of Rhodes…

  54. I’ve always wanted to go to Scotland. The scenery is so beautiful.

  55. No entry please — I would love to go to NC — why this lovely state, you ask? Because my one and only grandchild resides there, of course; thus, I do not get to see her as often as I would like (as I live in Louisiana).

  56. First-The Toy Store
Second-Spend the rest of the week playing!
    YEAH!!

carolyn jean’s last blog post..My sad career as a library user, my book addiction, and some questions

  59. Carolyn - It’s a new plugin that allows us to see where you last posted. Kind of a fun way to get to know other posters. :cheer:

  60. I would stay at home and just relax. Take naps, read books, and eat lots of junk food. :)

  61. Hi Jaci! :)
Normally I go for the active vacations… skiing, hiking or touring some great cities, but since its the middle of winter and things have been awfully cold and gray… I’d love to spend a week relaxing on a isolated beach… the sun, the sand, the breeze…. ahhhh…. :sunglasses:

  66. A week of pampering at a spa sounds wonderful. Great food, massages and facials, a bag of books and no laptop or phones.

  67. I’d pack up and head to Disney. Spend a few days there and then head Miami beach for some sun and fun.

  68. I’d go to Puerto Rico, and do all the things I’ve missed the three times I’ve been - El Yunque (rain forest), Bacardi rum factory, bioluminescent bay night tour, go up into the mountains, plus visit my friend Angel, eat at Yorba Linda, have guava quesitas at Starbucks, eat at Casita Blanca, find that bakery Rachel Ray went to and the pig roast place Anthony Bourdain went to - are you sure I can’t have more than a week? Pretty please?

  69. Although a week wouldn’t be long enough I would love to go to Italy.

  70. I would go to New Olreans!! I Love the slow pace…the food..we have a favorite bar on the street that we will sit in all day drinking bloody marys and watching people. No better way to spend a day with my hubby. :boobie:

  71. I love to go to Hong Kong to visit my grandparents and my other relatives that I have not met.

  76. I would go to the Smokey mountains in the fall, when the leaves are a kaleidoscope of colors, green, gold, crimson, and all of the shades in between. I would walk down cobblestone streets during the day, sipping hot chocolate, and window shopping. And sit on the back deck of the cabin that I would rent in the evenings enjoying the view, or my hubby and the hot tub! Woo Hoo! Now thats a vacation.

That should sustain for the rest of the year as I replay the stories in my head and imagine what my characters would be doing at that moment or in my situation :)

  78. I would go to New Orleans because I just love that town. Or I would go to San Francisco. or I would go to San Diego….hmmmm I can’t make up my mind LOL. But don’t enter me any way :)
