Howdy all! Whew! Busy weekend. I had to work with Biker Dude at his office all day Saturday. Saturday night we had to go to a wedding of the daughter of some friends of ours. The Pastor was a riot. I love a Pastor who can make you laugh. He did a great job with the ceremony. The reception was great (mainly because as soon as we got there they served the food and Biker Dude and I were starving
). We dashed out of there early because….Oklahoma was playing Texas Tech! And our Sooners beat the crap out of the Red Raiders!
Of course they ranked OU behind Texas in the BCS rankings, which is very irritating (ignore this if you don’t follow college football)
Sunday was spent cleaning the house.
I really hate cleaning. But I have to say, I’m married to a wonderful man. He turns housecleaning into the kind of thing that makes a woman fall in love with him all over again. He isn’t the kind of man to shirk his part of the housecleaning duties. He got down on his hands and knees and scrubbed the bathroom floors by hand. Then took the shop vac and vacuumed along the baseboards, again on his hands and knees. No, I’m not kidding. And then he completely took apart and cleaned the stove. When he works, he works. Really, it gives me the shivers the way he cleans.
We grocery shopped for Thanksgiving since we’re having it here. We bought a fryer and this year we’re going to experiment with frying a turkey. Hopefully it’ll turn out. We’ve had fried turkey before and it’s just oh so moist I wanted to try it myself. Well, frying the turkey will be Biker Dude’s job, while I’m cooking everything else.
Somewhere in that list of to do’s this week I need to work on getting some serious word count done on Riding The Edge. I’ve been fighting the leftover cough associated with The Cold From Hell the past few weeks. I think we’re on the upside of that now, so hopefully I can charge through some writing this week.
So for all of you folks in the USA, what are your Thanksgiving plans?
Oh, and cool news - RIDING TEMPTATION is Fresh Pick of the Day over at FRESH FICTION!

Hi Jaci:
Just wanted to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving. I hope it is everything wonderful.
Your husband does sound awesome!
I enjoyed the chat the other evening with respect to Unlaced. What a delightful group of authors. I’m so looking forward to reading that anthology. The chat was so much fun.
All the best to you and yours.

I’m glad you are almost back to 100% after being sick–it just sucks when it draaaaaaaaaaaggggggssss, doesn’t it?
Plans for turkey week: my oldest brother is visiting for a week, and he should be landing on my doorstep late afternoon on Wednesday. So I’m cleaning like crazy, trying to finish the couple of bookcases for my room I’ve been meaning to build for… oh, two years? (at least the lumber is well seasoned by now :sheepish: ), make sure I have time to bake cookies on Wednesday and bathe the dogs tomorrow, and take apart my son’s old desk so I can put a work table there and…
*ahem*
Yeah, so I’m not here, blog hopping, I’m over there, doing stuff…
by azteclady November 24th, 2008 at 8:29 amYep. I hear all about the BCS standings at my house all the time. I know far more than I ever wanted to about college ball. Snicker.

Jaci,
Sounds like you have a busy week planned.
I do plan to help cook Thanksgiving dinner.
Tonight my UMW is gathering to fill baskets for our shut-ins. Everyone brings something to add to the baskets, we fill them and deliver them tonight. It should be lots of fun and the shut-ins get a kick out of all the company.
Our church also gathers hams and turkeys from those who got them as a gift at work and didn’t need them and then along with the church food pantry we make dinner baskets for needy families. Each family will have all the makings for a wonderful meal. We try to provide modest meals the rest of the time to those in need but everyone deserves to be able to groan about eating leftovers for a week at least once in their lives.
It should be a very wonderful holiday for me. I hope that the same can be said for everyone here.
by Crystal Dee November 24th, 2008 at 9:39 amI am going to TWO dinners. One at my mama’s and one at my MIL’s church. I am bringing a casserole to each.
I am stressing over work. *blech* This is NOT my favorite work week.

by Annmarie November 24th, 2008 at 10:39 amHow fortunate you are to have someone like Biker Dude in your life. I hope you both have a great Thanksgiving and good luck with the fried turkey. My brother has done his turkey that way for 2 years now and he loves it.
My plans are very modest, but good.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
by Bev Stephans November 24th, 2008 at 12:32 pmYour husb and my husb could be twins…we did the same house cleaning and grocery shopping thing this weekend!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
by Darla November 24th, 2008 at 1:08 pmBiker Dude sounds like a great guy!
Am having Thanksgiving dinner at my youngest daughters. All I have to do is make Deviled Eggs.
by Estella November 24th, 2008 at 2:14 pmBiker Dude rocks!!! You are so very lucky!
I head to my sister’s house tomorrow. We do all the traditional food for our family. Plus my BIL will deep fry the turkey(always takes longer than he thinks, so dinner is always late). On Friday, my sister and I will brave the stores for our “once a year sister time”(she has 3 kids who always want to be with us). I can’t wait!
by Liza November 24th, 2008 at 4:20 pmBiker Dude is just awesome. ‘Nuff said. lol
Thanksgiving will be spent at my mom’s parents’ house like always. The only thing different this year is that instead of my dad using a store bought crust for the pumpking pie, I’ll be making mini pumpkin cheesecakes.
by Karin November 24th, 2008 at 4:24 pmDefinitely need to find my very own Biker Dude. Just don’t think it will happen.
I’ve been dreading the Texas Tech - OU game for two weeks. I just knew that was going to happen.
I’m heading home to the parental unit’s house on Wednesday and we will have Thanksgiving dinner over at my sister’s house.

by Greta November 24th, 2008 at 6:56 pmFor Thanksgiving my family is going to a family friend’s house
It’ll be nice, although I have 3 papers due Sunday. A 20+ page paper due Monday, and a 15 pg paper due Wednesday.
although my RSVP might be a tiny bit too late. Sads.
And then another final.
Wow - thinking about it makes my head hurt. I’m also supposed to go to a few fancy dinners, but we’ll see. One is $100/plate but I’m a guest so I feel I should take advantage of that. *angelface*
Erm… hm - did TX beat OK? I… thought so? Or… hm. I’m a bit sad Penn St won b/c I wanted OSU [mine] in the Rosebowl, but, ah well. I only got to watch the *BIG GAME* on Sat. Though one of the guys @ the Gala dinner I think kept leaving to check the score - but he’s a big Longhorns fan.
by limecello November 24th, 2008 at 10:36 pmLimecello - Yes, Tx did beat OU. And then Texas Tech beat TX. And then OU beat Texas Tech. So OU should be ahead of TX in the BCS. See my logic here?
And yeah, it never quite works out the way we want, does it? And holy crap on all that homework.
Greta. Sorry bout that.
Liza - I love shopping the day after Thanksgiving. Sadly for Biker Dude, he’ll have to go with me
And yes, y’all, I’m very lucky to have Biker Dude. He rocks.
by Jaci November 25th, 2008 at 9:14 amIf I feel better I am planning on going to a friend’s for Thanksgiving. If I don’t feel better I plan on convincing the family to go without me, and to hide under my blankie!
I hope you and yours have a great holiday season!
Sandi
by Sandi November 25th, 2008 at 5:05 pmOU completely whooped Texas Tech! I give it up to them. I’ve got to say it though, don’t kick me out okay? ROLL TIDE! I feel better now lol.
