Doesn’t This Book Sound Great?

I was reading the Samhain blog today and came across this book. I don’t know this author, never met her, but fell in love with the title of this book and the cover, so I bought it.

If you want to read more about the book, check out Kerri’s blog post here, because she has a rockin’ awesome video about the book posted, and you can read more about the book and find the buy link here.
Blurb below

Kyra Adams feels like she is living someone else’s life. The problem is, she’s right…

At thirty-six, Kyra has a workaholic husband, an ailing mother, a radiant daughter, and a dream home in the heart of suburbia. Her days are filled with saccharine ‘Mommy and Me’ play dates, but her nights are haunted by terrifying dreams of a girl with no reflection.

When her daughter becomes lost in a department store, Kyra’s dream intrudes on her waking state, and a threatening voice in her head challenges, “If you lost her, who would you be?â€

Terrified by the realization that she is disappearing into the footnotes of other people’s lives, and yearning for a full and genuine life of her own, Kyra seeks solace at a writer’s retreat in rural Vermont. What she expects are answers. But what she finds is a deeply troubled stranger with a tragic past, and a powerful secret that pierces into the heart of her family, testing the limits of forgiveness.

Are some secrets better left untold? Kyra is about to find out.

This is her debut book, so go show the love! :cheer:

This and That

I finished the novella! The Ties That Bind is done, and I’m thrilled. Now I have to edit it and send it off to my publisher, which I hope to do within the next couple days.

Copyedits have arrived for The Darkest Touch, so I need to get busy on those as soon as I finish editing The Ties That Bind.

Ack. Busy Busy Busy.

And stay tuned, because there’s some great blog fun and contests coming up at the end of the week.

On February 1, by 1pm PST I’ll be doing a blog Round Robin with FOUR other authors who also have Berkley releases the first week of February! We’ve come up with five off-the-wall questions to answer. Our five responses to each question will be posted on the five respective blogs, and at every blog you’ll have the chance to answer the question yourself and win prizes! So come here on February 1 after 1pm PST, and you’ll be able to link to the other four blogs from here. Participating will be Meljean Brook, Nalini Singh, Joey Hill, and Dakota Cassidy

Sound fun? :kickass:

Unwrapped Receives La Grande Mort Award!

Hey, I’m excited! :glee:

Romance Reviews Today (erotic) gave UNWRAPPED their La Grande Mort Award! (In French, that means grand death, or really, in sexual terms it means big honkin’ orgasm. In other words, they gave it a Perfect 10 (that’s how it translates in RRT’s non-erotic world :giggle:)

I couldn’t be more excited! Thank you Kate at RRT for this rockin review, and for the award for my book. :hips:

Check out this snippet of the review:

The love scenes between Amy and Justin are sexy and sweet. And when Mitch joins in the fun, this romance turns into the ultimate fantasy for any woman. UNWRAPPED is written by a pro, and I know when reading a story by Jaci Burton I will experience the best that erotic romance has to offer. UNWRAPPED rightly deserves the La Grande Mort award for an overall luscious romance and one of the best ménage a trois scenes I have read in awhile.

You can read the full review here

Now y’all have read UNWRAPPED, right? It’s a novella, available here at Samhain

It’s winter, ya know. Wouldn’t you like UNWRAPPED to keep you warm? :sasmokin:

Demon Night by Meljean Brook

Meljean was nice enough to let me have an advance peek at Demon Night, releasing Feb 5th from Berkley. This book is part of her Guardians series, and trust me when I tell you that if you haven’t started reading this series, you’ve missed out on some of the best paranormal books out there now, and some of the greatest characters to hit the scene in years.

In this book, we meet Ethan and Charlie, who know each other but Charlie hasn’t really met Ethan in person yet. And so the story begins. Charlie has had some hard knocks and has picked herself up and is working hard on her own personal redemption. Ethan is sworn to protect Charlie, and that he does…in his own way, and in the best way he can, despite seemingly overwhelming odds against him.

Ethan. Oh, Ethan. A sexier hero I don’t think has ever been created. You like western heroes? Trust me, even though this is set in contemporary times, you’re gonna love Ethan. Ethan made my toes curl. Meljean seduces the reader with hundreds and hundreds of pages of sensual tension that make you white knuckle the book until you want to scream. Isn’t that great? :giggle:

I’m not very often at a loss for words, but Meljean’s writing puts me there. She mesmerizes me, grips me by the throat and takes me along on this magical ride where I’m completely lost in her worldbuilding, unable to put the book down until the story ends (just ask Biker Dude, who grumbled at me for a few middle-of-the-nights while I was reading this book).

You can read about all the books in the Guardian series here at Meljean’s website. I highly recommend you start with the first and immerse yourself in her world, then read every book so you’re ready for Demon Night. And you can read more about Demon Night here.

Oh, and Ethan is mine. Mine mine mine.
