Last Day Of The Year

Over the weekend I finished Riding Temptation, emailed it to my editor, so that’s one project off my desk. :cheer:

I also finished the proposal for my next demon hunters book and today I’ll be emailing that to my other editor, so that’s another project off my desk. :sasmokin:

I’m stoked. Hell of a way to finish off the year. I have a book I need to write in January (yes, an entire book) so my desk is clear and I’ll be ready to dive in January 1st! Everything’s right on schedule. I love when that happens. :boobie:

So tonight Biker Dude and I are going to fix munchies and either watch college football or movies. (We do not go out on New Years Eve….crazy people on the roads!) #1 son and family might come over and hang out with us. College daughter is no doubt the one who’ll be dressing up to go party. Heh. That figures. She usually eats at better restaurants than we do, too. What’s up with that?

Anyone have fun plans for tonight?

And Happy New Year!!!

Exclusive, a Berkley Heat anthology containing my novella, Wild Nights, released September from Berkley

True Lies (a rerelease), released October in e-book from Ellora’s Cave

Unwrapped, released December in e-book from Samhain Publishing

In 2007, I wrote 6 Books:

Wild Nights, my novella in the Exclusive Anthology for Berkley Heat (30,000 words)

Show Me, a novella for Samhain (25,000 words)

Unwrapped, a novella for Samhain (25,000 words)

Riding Wild, a Berkley Heat single title and first in the Wild Riders series to be released next year(85,000 words). Also wrote a 15,000 word proposal for this book.

The Darkest Touch, the third Demon Hunters book to be released next year (90,000 words). Also wrote a 15,000 word proposal for this book.

Riding Temptation, the second Wild Riders Berkley Heat book to be released next year (85,000 words). Also wrote a 15,000 word proposal for this book.

And for all the books that released, I did revisions, copyedits and for the books in print, galleys.

I wrote almost 400,000 words last year.

Holy shit. No wonder I’m so freakin tired. :giggle:

Note to self: Plan a vacation next year.

I’d do my schedule for next year, but I think I’m afraid to :hide:

Riding Wild News!

Romantic Times BookReviews Magazine gave RIDING WILD 4 1/2 Stars and a Top Pick!!!

And an incredible review! Huge thanks to Bella March for this awesome review!

Burton delivers it all in this hot story - strong characters, an exhilirating plot and scorching sex - and it all moves at a breakneck pace. Forget about a cool glass of water, break out the ice! You’ll be drawn so fully into her characters’ world that you won’t want to return to your own. Each page will leave you panting for more.

:sasmokin:

Makes you want to go right out and preorder the book, doesn’t it? (Reminder: It releases February 5th) :giggle:

Also, the contest for ARCs for RIDING WILD is now closed. The winners have all been emailed and will soon receive ARCs. Thank you all for entering!!

So How Was Christmas?

Welcome back everyone! How was your Christmas? Mine was great. I got to spend time with family, which I love. I cooked and baked until my fingers were pruny from washing dishes so much. (Glad I got that all out of my system :giggle:)

I got several wonderful gifts. My favorite? The ugliest hat ever:

I love this hat. It’s warm and furry and I look hideous in it. I don’t care. I think it’s adorable and I think Biker Dude rocks for getting it for me.

So what was your favorite gift?

A Great Xmas Book!

I took some time out of my hectic,, squeeze-my-brains-to-death writing schedule this week and I sat down and read a Christmas story.

I’m a huge fan of Lauren Dane’s writing. She writes wonderful characters that you can fall in love with and To Do List was exactly what I needed to calm my holiday/deadline stress.

Available in ebook from Samhain Publishing, it’s well worth your time to download and take a few hours to relax and settle in with Belle and Rafe. Friends to lovers stories are always favorites of mine, and this one has warmth, family, holidays and smokin hot sex. What more could you ask for? :giggle:

He wasn’t part of her balance sheet. But one week in his bed could tip the scales.

Since she could pick up a pencil, Belle Taylor has used lists and charts to map out her life. When she achieves a goal, she marks it off her to do list. Simple. But now, just steps away from her corner-office, name-on-the-letterhead goal, she realizes that the life she thought she wanted may come at too high a price.

Exhausted, she retreats home for Christmas vacation to rethink her life, complete with all-new lists. What she hadn’t expected is Rafe Bettencourt, her brother’s best friend, the man who she thought only saw her as a pesky younger sister. But when he kisses her under the mistletoe, Belle finds herself with a whole new set of goals to balance with what she thought she always wanted.

Rafe knows Belle is trying to figure out what to do with her life. He also knows he’s done loving her from afar, and he’s not beneath making it as hard as possible for her to choose to return to San Francisco.

Because Rafe can make to-do lists too—and his plan is to seduce Belle back home where she belongs. At his side. And in his bed.

Christmas Movies

I love Christmas movies. Nothing gets me in the spirit more than The Grinch (both the 30 minute cartoon and the Jim Carey movie version), A Christmas Story, White Christmas, It’s A Wonderful LIfe and more.

We just watched Love, Actually last night. I’ve been madly in love with this movie since it first came out and had to have it to watch over and over again. Now it’s become another holiday favorite, destined to become a classic.

My sons and I used to love watching Christmas movies when the boys were little. Now that they’re grown and gone, I have to coax (i.e. bribe) Biker Dude to watch with me. He’s a real trooper and will generally suffer them with me. (This means he loves me, because he really doesn’t enjoy these movies )

I’ve even caught a few of the Lifetime Christmas movies this year. Some have been hokey and a bit over the top, but still fun.

Do you love Christmas movies? Hate them? And if you love them, which are your favorites?

Stuff

No I haven’t been swallowed up by the holidays. Just buried in trying to get a proposal finished before deadline. And the holidays, of course. :giggle:

I’m blogging about the holidays and shopping over at Writeminded today. Come see me!

And don’t forget about the RIDING WILD ARC contest! There’s still time to enter to win an Advance Reader copy.

And there are 5 days ’til Christmas. Ack.

Where’s Waldo?

Notice anything? (click on the pic to enlarge)

Besides my pine trees that survived the ice storm, of course. :boobie:

Those three lumps on the ground on the left side of the pic are NOT fallen timber. They’re the outside dogs, doing their thank-you-Jesus-the-sun-is-shining-again homage (i.e. sunbathing naps). And no, the dogs aren’t, in fact, dead, though they act the part well, don’t they?

:giggle:

By the way, don’t forget about my RIDING WILD ARC contest!
