You know, I like to give away books here on my blog.
For once, I won books!
Dear Author did a Rita reader contest where you had to guess the RITA winners, and I was one of several who came the closest, and my name was drawn as the winner, so I win all the RITA winning books!
How utterly cool is that?
Thanks to Jane at Dear Author. More awesomely cool reading ahead for me. :hips:
Check out Jane’s post. She did a great analysis of how the readers voted in all the categories there.

I received an awesome review of HUNTING THE DEMON from PUBLISHER’S WEEKLY!
In her steamy follow-up to Surviving Demon Island , Burton introduces demon hunter Shay Pearson, a member of the Realm of Light, the good guys dedicated to keeping back the demon menace. She’s on a mission in Sydney, Australia, to locate the Diavolo Diamond heir, sexy surfer and half-demon Nic Diavolo, and bring him back to agency headquarters by any means necessary; once there, Nic’s to meet his brother, who will determine if Nic will band with the Realm or with their sinister enemy, the Sons of Darkness. Spotting him in nothing but low-slung board shorts, however, gives Shay other ideas—like, for instance, satisfying her lust for his rock-hard abs. Nic, meanwhile, is oblivious to the demonic forces within him, save for a recurring dream of long-taloned beasts clawing at his feet and worshiping him—dreams he begins to fear are visions of what’s to come. Burton brings the heat, jazzing her otherworldly suspense plot with numerous passionate interludes, without letting the explosive good vs. evil saga flag. Hot sex, fierce battles and an impending sequel make this title worth hunting down.
Publisher’s Weekly 7/30/07
And another from ROMANTIC TIMES BOOKREVIEWS MAGAZINE!
Burton is back with another intensely sexy and action-packed adventure. The war between the Sons of Darkness and Realm of Light enters round two with all the passion and verve of the first. Sassy, sexy, supernatural thrills!

And it’s already the end of July. Yikes.
Weekend was fun. Biker Dude and I went on a Poker Run charity bike ride for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. It was hot and sweaty and a really long day out in the sun, but we had a really good time. We rode to different locations, got a different ‘card’ for our poker hand at each locale, and ended up at Harley dealership where we didn’t win the Harley they were giving away, but Biker Dude did win a t-shirt. Hey, better than nothing, right?
Then we came home and did yard work. More hot sun and sweat. Yuk.
Sunday we went shopping with our daughter and bought her a nightstand for the condo she’ll be sharing with friends at college. Yes, just a few more weeks and she’ll be off to college. She’s so excited and we’re excited for her.
No writing at all this weekend, which I didn’t really mind. I need to take time off and refresh the brain (ignores Sven’s leering, sweaty face over there on the right). Since the 70 Day writing challenge started on July 8th, I’ve added over 100 pages to The Demon’s Touch, so I’m rockin and things are going really well with the plotline.
Today is working on the book, which after having taken the weekend off, I’m anxious to get back to. And of course,
This week’s agenda?
1. Write at least 40 pages on The Demon’s Touch
2. Surgery later this week for Buddy, our lab, who tore his ACL.
3. Make appt for Jaz and Bella at the Groomers (man, do they really need haircuts)
4. Grocery shopping!
What’s on your To Do list this week?
Oh and 31 DAYS UNTIL HUNTING THE DEMON RELEASES!!!!! :hips:

Always a fun subject for a Friday, huh?
I was having a discussion with some friends yesterday about sex scenes in erotic romance, and it made me think about those of us who write sex scenes. And how we write them, or how they come to be.
When I write an erotic romance, I tend to plot out the storyline, with an inkling of where the sex scenes might go.

Two reviews have come in for Show Me! :hips:

Jennifer of CK2’s Kwips and Critiques has this to say:
I won’t be shy about saying it – I loved this story! Jaci Burton has penned a tale that is smoking hot, and also manages to be extremely romantic. I felt every emotion these characters felt, and was on the edge of my seat until I finished the last chapter.
Thank you Jennifer!
And KarenH at The Romance Studio Said:
The seduction of Janine was a pleasure to experience and I greatly enjoyed reading this book. Del is as sexy as they come and a great guy; every woman’s fantasy. There is lots of really hot sex in this book, a lot of it public with the added thrill that they could be caught, even though that was Janine’s worst nightmare. The storyline is clever and engaging. The characters came alive and I couldn’t help caring about them. I really enjoyed this spicy story about the path to true love. I recommend it highly.
Thank you Karen!

I had the great pleasure of meeting Marianne Mancusi (along with Liz Maverick) at RWA this year. They were dressed up as befitting Dorchester’s Shomi line of characters to draw attention to the new line of books. And they looked adorable.

They were both so sweet to talk to, and utterly enthusiastic about their books.
Read more after the jump! You want to…trust me

Yeah. One hell of a blog title, huh?
I wrote 20 pages yesterday on The Demon’s Touch. 20 tough pages, too. Plot and subplot in these Demon Hunter books suck the very life out of me, so I feel great when I make some progress. I’m at a really fun part of the book so my mind is working faster than my fingers right now. I can’t wait to put down what happens next. I wish I could just ‘think’ it and it would appear on paper. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to create that way?
I need to go to the post office today. I have a ton of stuff to mail out, including several boxes. Good thing #2 son is still here to help me. But I still have to package up said boxes of stuff. Bleh. I really hate trips to the post office. And it breaks my concentration when I’d rather stay home and write. Okay, so really I just hate going to the post office because it’s a giant pain in my butt to schlep all the packages there and wait in line so I’ll come up with every excuse in the book not to go. Alas, I’ve put it off long enough and I really do have to go.
And speaking of #2 son, he goes back home to California tomorrow.
