Hey y’all!

Thank you so much for all the well wishes.

Sadly, my mother passed away yesterday.

She was 85 years old, not in the best of health and had been in an assisted living center for the past year and a half. She was always a spry go getter, but pneumonia and congestive heart failure finally wore her down and she couldn’t fight anymore.

I’m really glad I got up here in time to hold her hand and be there with her, along with my brother and sister, while she went. And I got to talk to her the day before.

It was her time, and I’m okay. I appreciate your good thoughts and prayers.

I’ll be offline for several days but will be back mid part of next week.

She had a family emergency come up late last night. We had to find her an airline ticket about 1 this morning and I dropped her off to catch her flight at 6:15. Not sure when she will be back to blogland.

So we know all the RT Convention goers are in Houston this week. (I hear the weather’s been kind of stormy there. )

Where would you be if you could be anywhere else but home right now?

Me, I’d be in Italy, because that’s where my next Demon Hunters book takes place and I need to do some serious research. And there’s nothing better than in person research, ya know. Plus I’m half Italian, so I’d love to visit the land of my ancestors.

You know, it felt like I haven’t blogged in a week. (In reality, it’s been 2 days. Duh.)

Having visitors really messes up my schedule. And clearly warps my sense of time.

It’s been hectic around here (Understatement). Yesterday was Prom day for teenage daughter. Omy, was that a day. I’ll have to post a pic later. She looked gorgeous (and about 26 :cry:).

Today we’re at the office, among other stuff that’s on the to do list for the day. Running constantly. Getting no writing work done for the past 5 days or so. I will so be paying for this next week after visitor leaves.

I haven’t even had time to talk to my BBs. This annoys me greatly. I miss them.

And how’s your weekend going?

1. We have a visitor from out of town this week so my schedule is all screwed up, meaning I’m not getting a damn thing done. Love having him here, though, so I’ll gladly give up a week of work. He’s my son’s best friend and actually lived with us for a while when he was a teen, so he’s like one of my kids. Okay, not a kid anymore since he’s married with kids of his own, but it’s like having ‘family’ visit. Loving it.

Thought you’d enjoy seeing the birds. For those who remember, we have like a gozillion birds living our pear trees. Okay, not just our trees. They’re everywhere, in everyone’s yards. I took some pics . It’s like a Hitchcock movie, I’m tellin ya. Freaky

As soon as the grass dries up enough I’ll get out at night and try to get pics of the crawdads who have arrived en masse and making their big mounds on the grass. Maybe I can spot a few snakes too. I swear, it’s like our own version of Animal Planet in our yard.
