For those of you heading out into the wilds of the world tonight, do be careful amongst the crazies. Especially the crazy drivers.
Biker dude and I will probably go out for an early dinner, then hide in our house and watch movies, content to avoid the idiots around here who can’t even drive sober, let alone once they’ve downed a few.
So I’ve heard from several people that Surviving Demon Island has been spotted at Wal Mart and Walgreens and the like. Let me know if you see it at any of the discount stores, drugstores or grocery stores. Or let me know if you’ve bought it. Or let me know if you’ve read it yet.
And stay tuned…tomorrow I’m putting up an interview between Gina Bliss, my heroine from Surviving Demon Island, and Jezebel, Jackie Kessler’s character in her just about to be released book, Hells Belles. You don’t want to miss this! :fire:
And go congratulate Larissa Ione! Her first book, a novella in Secrets, Volume 18 released today! Make sure to order yourself a copy…I just did!
Happy New Year!!!!

Isn’t that just the hottest cover ever?
My good pal Shelley Bradley, writing as Shayla Black, has a new book coming out this coming week from Berkley HEAT. WICKED TIES is an erotic romance. And by Heat I mean hot. Hot, hot hot stuff.
Shelley and I critique for each other so I was lucky enough to see this book unfold, and I LOVED it. It’s full of suspense, action, and some of the steamiest, make-your-heart-pound-and-palms-sweat sex I’ve ever read.
Now I write erotic romance. I’m a pretty critical judge of the hot stuff. Trust me. This one has the hot stuff in spades. And it’s also an emotional story with characters that I fell in love with.
Get this book!!! I made Shelley give me an excerpt to tease y’all with. Check it out.

Shiloh did an interview with me and I’m giving away a prize. Go check it out!
And Angie is having a Name That Anthology contest and giving away great prizes!
And Colleen Gleason is giving away a copy of Surviving Demon Island in a contest!
I’m back to work, doing more revisions on Hunting the Demon, the second book in the Demon Hunter series. These are a bit easier than the first round of revisions. I’m actually on the final read through now, so hopefully by the end of the weekend I can shoot this baby back to my editor and be done!!!

| Thirteen Things I Resolve For Next Year
1. To NOT have to write in December. Too much going on
2. Schedule longer due dates for books
3. More prep time for plotting…and figure out that damn subplot stuff
4. Fewer trips…I don’t want to even count the # of trips Charlie and me took this year, other than too damn many. And other than a couple to see my mom, they were for either his business or mine. It’s exhausting, expensive, and plays havoc with my deadlines. *note to self – stay home and write!*
5. Not using the credit card – that thing gives me the heebie-jeebies
6. Spend less money
7. Save more money
8. See my boys and my granddaughter (which would require more trips, either for them or for me….hmmm, they’re younger – they can come see me)
9. Read more books – I didn’t do nearly enough of that this year and it really fires my creative juices, to not only take a break from my own work but to also really appreciate the talent of my peers. I miss reading!
10. Back to the gym. I miss working out!
11. Work on making my skin even thicker than it already was…metaphorically speaking, of course
12. Party more…stress less
13. Take more naps..hehehe

(You can click on the pic to make it bigger). Look! There’s Surviving Demon Island, on the New Paperbacks shelf..right next to Sherrilyn Kenyon and on the same shelf as Nora Roberts! Squeee!!!!!
And check out who else is on the shelf? Colleen Gleason’s The Rest Falls Away! Wooo hoooo!
Yes, I had my totally geek-girl moment and had Charlie take a pic, and wasn’t at all embarrassed. I got weepy, too. I’m such a doofus. I can’t help it. It’s release day!!!!!
I looked for Shannon McKelden’s Venus Envy because today is her release day too but neither Borders I went to had it *pout*. Nor did they have Jackie Kessler’s Hells Belles or Shayla Black’s Wicked Ties. *pout pout*
But I have a feeling I’ll be doing more shopping this week, so I’ll be out again.
Annnnnnd, check out Jackie Kessler’s blog. Gina Bliss, My heroine from Surviving Demon Island has been interviewed by Jezebel, Jackie’s heroine from Hells Belles. You don’t want to miss this–it’s a freakin riot!!!

Surviving Demon Island is starting to appear on bookshelves!
Erin bought it at Chapters last night! My friend Renee’ called me today to tell me her local indie bookstore (big thank yous to Lisa at The Book Shelf in St Louis) has it on the shelves.
I haven’t stopped at my Borders, Waldens or B&N yet, but I think I might take a ride out for coffee later today and just see if it’s out yet, even though technically the release date is December 26th (as if anyone who reads my blog regularly doesn’t know THAT date, since I’ve been beating y’all over the head with it incessantly.)
So if you’re out and about doing last minute Christmas shopping or just happen to be at the bookstore, let me know if you see my book! And if you just happen to have a camera phone on ya….
In other good news, the witty and sinfully talented Dakota Cassidy just sold to Berkley. Go congratulate her!

I’ve been waiting for this book to release. Shannon and I both release December 26th, so I’ll be buying it the same day as Surviving Demon Island!!!

VENUS ENVY by Shannon McKelden
(TOR Books, December 26, 2006)
Take one hunky firefighter, one stubborn “Cinderella,” and one very reluctant fairy godmother and what do you get?
Rachel Greer wants no part of Venus’s scheme to land Mr. March as her Prince Charming, but Venus is determined to do just that. She’s only a few love-life fixes short of returning to her former goddess status, and she’s not letting one mulish mortal stand in her way.
It appears the only way Rachel can get rid of the very un-Disney-like fairy godmother is to play along. So she follows Venus’s plan to interview Luke Stanton’s ex-girlfriends…which Venus believes will cure Rachel’s relationship fears, but which Rachel knows will only prove her point that men are never what they appear to be.
But, when Venus’s plan appears to work, and Rachel and Luke fall in love, does Rachel dare set aside her fears about happily ever? Or will betrayal send her back into relationship seclusion…this time forever?
And what happens when a goddess-turned-fairy godmother breaks the most important rule–protecting herself from human emotions?

Look What I just got!

With a card that says: “Here’s to “surviving” your first NY release”
From Angie, Mel, Mandy and Shan
They are my best friends, the ones who put up with me and the whole writing process for Surviving Demon Island, from start to finish, from the proposal and nail biting auction to the sale, to the months of writing and revising. They held my hand during the rough spots, bitch slapped me when I whined and kicked my butt when I needed it (which was often). They cheered with me when the great reviews started pouring in, and they have always been there for me when I needed them. I couldn’t ask for a better support system.
I love you guys. Thank you for this, and for being the bestest friends a neurotic writer could ever ask for.
