The Weekly “To Do” List

Ack! I’m a day late. But I was out of town this weekend visiting mom and moving some of her furniture. We just won’t even talk about that *g*

Okay, time for the weekly to do list. I checked last week’s list and was surprised I actually managed to get most of it done. Woo hoo! I didn’t suck as badly as I thought.

This week:

I want at least 20K on Demon Island rewrite. Need to get cranking on that baby.

Finish up RITA books. No, I’m not done yet. *sobs*

That’s it. I’m keeping the list purposely short because I’m going to try and focus (yeah, right). We’ll see how it works.

So what’s on your ‘to do’ list for the week?

A New MeMeMe

This one looked easy enough so I swiped it from Angie’s blog today. *grin*

Current Clothing: Sweatpants - red. They have Grumpy from the seven dwarfs. They say Grumpy on them. Yeah, that’s appropriate for me *g*. Red long sleeved shirt that says Sweetheart Bakery, Made With Love. So doesn’t go with the Grumpy Sweatpants, does it? Socks and pink slippers.

Current Hair: Uhhhhh total bedhead.

Current Mood: Bout the same as always. Slightly grouchy, tired, but today I’m jazzed because I found some great research info on high tech weaponry so maybe I can move forward on Demon Island rewrite stuff.

Current Refreshment: Coffee with cream.

Current Annoyance: Demon Island’s rewrite, of course. The bane of my existence right now.

Current Avoidance: Demon Island’s rewrite. *snort*

Current Smell: *sniff sniff*. Uhhhh…nothing. It’s dry in here. I must have a stuffy nose *g*

Current Thing You Ought to be Doing: Demon Island rewrites, of course.

Current Thing or Things on Your Wall: This great calendar I bought called “The Kiss”. Has couples kissing for every month and it’s adorable. And a beautiful framed picture that my friend Mel took. She’s a fabulous photographer.

Current IM Person You’re Talking To: Angie, Shan, Mel, Mandy whenever she pops back in. Mel just left for work.

Current Jewelry: My wedding ring on my left hand, a silver and gold band that matches one Charlie has on my right hand.

Current Book: Revisions on Demon Island. Reading Crazy Hot by Tara Janzen. Finishing up RITA books.

Now you play along!

Ice and Rain is out in print!

ICE AND RAIN, the print duet for the third and fourth books in my STORM FOR ALL SEASONS paranormal series, is now available in print!

A STORM FOR ALL SEASONS - WINTER ICE By Jaci Burton
Book 3 in the Storm For All Seasons series.

Control is everything to Logan Storm. Control over the family business, the Rising Storm Hotel in New Orleans, control over his emotions, and control over the magic within him.

Sophie Breaux is the granddaughter of a voodoo princess and welcomes the supernatural powers that live within her. She’s been having visions about hot and sexy Logan Storm. Visions of destiny and of danger. When she tries to warn him, Logan thinks she’s a con artist and wants no part of the raven-haired goddess.

The one thing Logan can’t control is Sophie’s fiery passion. She melts his walls of ice with her sultry heat, threatening everything that is orderly in his life. His control begins to slip away with every touch, every inflamed kiss, and he’s powerless to stop his feelings.

Sophie knows that in order to save Logan she must melt his cold heart with scorching love. And when a woman is determined to get her man, nothing will stop her.

Note: The second book in the A Storm for All Seasons series is “Devlin Dynasty 2: Fall Fury”. That story brings together characters from both series.

A STORM FOR ALL SEASONS - SPRING RAIN By Jaci Burton
Book 4 in the Storm For All Seasons series.

Kaitlyn Storm has loved Brett McGregor since she was seventeen, even before he pulled her into his arms and kissed her until she was breathless. But Brett pushed her away, not wanting to subject Kaitlyn to the demons inside him.

Ten years later Brett is a widower with a dark secret he hides from everyone, especially Kaitlyn. He doesn’t want her to get close, doesn’t want to risk hurting her. Though he owns a prominent New Orleans art gallery, he no longer paints. Not since that black day six years ago when his wife died. And no matter how much Kaitlyn begs him, he won’t paint her nude portrait, even though her lush body and sensual nature haunt his dreams at night.

But Kaitlyn won’t take no for an answer. She’s determined to use all her powers of magic to convince Brett to start living and loving again, even if she has to seduce him while posing nude for a painting. And in the game of seducing the man she loves, Kaitlyn is relentless.

Five Guilty Pleasures

Diana blogged about guilty pleasures, so figured I’d pick up the ball.

Of course I’m all about pleasures, and it’s hard for me to find pleasures to feel guilty about, but there are a few.

1. I have cleaning ladies who clean my house every other week. Yes, I feel guilty about this because it’s a luxury, but I write full time, I work part time and I try to keep up with everything else. But cleaning the house always came last, if at all. So I indulge. I feel guilty about it, but I indulge. Otherwise the dust bunnies would rule my world. Seriously rule my world.

2. Clinique Body Butter. It’s expensive but it’s saved my dry skin this winter. I *heart* it and I don’t care how much it costs.

3. Naps. I need them and I shouldnt’ take them but whenever I can, I head for the sofa, grab the puppies and my blanket and I’m out cold. I love naps.

4. There are 4 computers in my house. I personally have both a desktop and a laptop. I use the laptop when I sit on the couch (okay it’s supposed to be used for travel….so I travel to the couch and use it *g*). Ashley has the old desktop. Charlie has his own laptop. Necessary? No. But I wanted a new desktop that was faster and I wanted the laptop for…uhh…travel *snort*. And now no one has to share…or wait.

5. Charlie. My favorite guilty pleasure. Yes, sometimes I feel guilty for wanting him all to myself, or for taking him away from things he should be doing, or for wishing he was with me instead of somewhere else. Tough. I’ll live with the guilt. *g*

Addendum: My new Dooney and Bourke purse! How could I forget to add my Dooney and Bourke purse to my guilty pleasures? Ack! Now THAT was definitely a guilty pleasure. hehehe

I’ll tag whoever wants to do this.

The Weekly “To Do” List

Ugh. It’s Monday again. I had a fabulous birthday weekend! Thank you all for the birthday wishes! I laid around like a sloth and did nothing. To me that’s fun and oh, did I need that. And Charlie bought me a silver necklace from Tiffany’s to go with the silver earrings from Tiffany’s he got me for Valentine’s Day. All is right in my world *g*

The TO DO list for the week:

Get worldbuilding stuff to editor for approval

Start rewrite on Demon Island

Work on Berkley book

Finish reading RITA books

Make hotel reservations for trip this weekend

Make reservations to board puppies this weekend

Package up ’stuff’ for post office mailing. Books for prize winners, books to enter contest, yada yada.

Can I stop now? eeek!

What’s on your list for the week?

The Week Is Over, Right?

It’s just been one of those weeks. Even Angie has been blogging about it being a bad week, so I don’t feel alone in my bleh-ness.

But I have a handle on the Demon Island revision outline now. My editor has approved the recharacterization of my heroine, which was a major component, so things are looking up! I should have the outline finished the weekend…uhhh maybe, depending on how much I get done tomorrow since it’s my birthday and I don’t intend to bust my ass too much tomorrow *g*. But I don’t get to take too many days off.

And it’s supposed to snow tonight! So things are looking up! Hey, snow here in drought-land is a big freakin deal.

Happy Weekend!

Oh Woe Are My Revisions

Revisions on Surviving Demon Island are here

Round two.

Oy!

Five page revision letter and notes all over the mss. Okay so clearly I didn’t give them what they wanted in Round one, cuz I have some massive work to do in round two. Like reworking the heroine, the demons, the worldbuilding…okay, the whole book *g*

That which does not kills us makes us stronger, right?

Actually the revisions are killer. Or they’ll kill me. Not sure yet.

All I know is I’m going to be at this for awhile, and seriously rewriting the entire book, but the overall vision for the rewrite is awesome (at least I saw that much through the tears..hehehe).

Oh, and I’ll be doing said replotting/rewrite while simultaneously writing my Berkley book, of course.

Cocktails anyone?

*g*

The Weekly “To Do” List

It’s Monday. Time for the weekly ‘to do’ list.

My Bantam/Dell editor told me on Friday that more revisions were coming for Surviving Demon Island. So as soon as those arrive today I have to dig in. That will be a long, ongoing project according to what she told me. Bleh.

Along with revisions to Demon Island, I”m going to have to siimultaneously write my Berkley book. I need 10K this week.

And I still have some reading to do for the RITAs.

Let the juggling begin *g*

What’s on your ‘to do’ list for this week?

Weekly Recap of Goals

So I went back to Monday’s to do list.

I finished story one of my Berkley book. Yayyyy! Didn’t finish story 2 because I got bogged down in ’stuff’. No, don’t ask me what ’stuff’. Just ’stuff’. But I did go through and edit story 1, so now I’m ready to start Story 2 in the book. So I made that goal and then some. Woo hoo!

Did some reading, too, So that goal made.

Everyone hit their goals for the week?
