Actually, on Christmas Eve, Charlie and I went tooling around the Chevy dealership and this is what we came home with….
Chevy Tahoe - The damn thing comes with everything but maid service…though I think Onstar damn near qualifies as that *g*
It’s the gift that keeps on giving….or we’ll keep on giving…for the next 7 years. *ack*
But I haven’t had a new car in almost 10 years. And we take lots of road trips (I’m a writer…conventions and such, ya know). And ye olde Jeep was beginning to cost major buckos in repairos.
And frankly….I love it. It’s huge. HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE.
Now Charlie is afraid no one will ever sit up front with him again since the DVD player is in the back seat. hehehe
I just have to figure out where the plugin is for my laptop…..
Yes. I have a cleaning service that comes to my house every other week and cleans for me.
Oh sure. Some of you out there in blog land are thinking….well isn’t she miss hoity toity for having maids?
Well, not really.
I work a part time job with my husband. And I write full time. More than full time actually, when you break it down. Sometimes my days start at 6 a.m. and end at 10 p.m. I’m busy. All the damn time. 7 days a week. Writers don’t actually work 5 day a week 9 to 5 jobs, do we?
And the one thing that I found falling by the wayside every week was cleaning the house. So when the filth on the bathroom floor reached “Dear God in heaven I hope no one calls the health department” levels, I knew it was time to do something about it, because it became painfully clear I no longer had the time to clean the house. And it also became clear that no one else in the house was going to jump up and volunteer to do it either. (I don’t blame them. Not one of my favorite volunteer activities *g*)
So here I sit editing my proposal for my second Bantam Dell book, working on my laptop, feet propped up on my couch, while two women run around my house cleaning. And I feel this tiny twinge of guilt, thinking I really should be doing that. (Hey, I’m Italian AND Catholic…the guilt thing is inherent *g*).
And then I think…eh…fuck it. I deserve this. I earned this. I’m working my ass off over here so this is my one indulgence. And when they’re gone and I can inhale and smell….cleanliness, it makes me happy. And a happy me is a productive me.
I’ll still feel guilty (reference “Italian” and “Catholic” above). But I think I can live with the guilt.
So my editor called yesterday. She read Demon Island. Loved it. Of course then gave me tons of notes on revisions.
But she liked it. She really really liked it! (my Sally Field moment *g*)
Now I must revise.
But first I have to finish up the proposal for Book 2. Which, by the way, is currently at 14 single spaced pages and growing like a freakin’ rampant plague. Can you say ‘massive editing’ upcoming when I’m done with it?
Ack.
I really love my work *g*

I’m thrilled to announce that my erotic paranormal, ANIMAL INSTINCTS, is a finalist in the Erotica Paranormal category of the EPPIES, sponsored by EPIC, the Electronically Published Internet Connection. This is like the Oscars for the epublishing community, so needless to say I’m thrilled and honored!
Awards will be given in March 2006 at the annual EPIC convention.
I’m up against some really stiff competition, no pun intended since this is the erotica category…hehehe. But seriously, I’m honored to be in such great company!

Now I didn’t exactly say what it would get you in the mood for, did I? hehehe
My wonderful friend Melani Blazer has a new release today. When I Close My Eyes is a fabulous paranormal with a touch of Christmas spirit. It’s a beautifully emotional love story with magic and snow and the holidays mixed in, along with a nice touch of hot and sexy passion. You don’t want to miss it. Buy it here today!
For as long as she can remember, Kenna had dreams of one man whose touch filled her soul and ignited her passions. When her life crumbles right before the holidays, Kenna decides that as a Christmas present to herself, she’s going to finally learn if what she feels is real, or if it’s just a figment of her imagination.
Seth feels the presence of the mystery woman who comes to him in visions and dreams—offering her body and soul to him. He’s spent a lifetime looking for her and tonight he’s going to find her. When he rescues a stranded Kenna, he feels the attraction, but wonders if she’s ‘the one’.
Stranded by a blizzard in a mountainside cabin, Seth’s and Kenna’s passions ignite. Their hearthside sex leaves them breathless, but the heat they generate isn’t enough to burn the memory of the dream woman from Seth’s mind, or convince Kenna she hadn’t simply imagined the man she knows only in her dreams.
But at Christmas, magical things happen. And sometimes, dreams can come to life.
Yes, that’s an actual song title *g*
But I’m not referring to a song. I’m talking about Surviving Demon Island, my Bantam Dell book. It’s done. It’s edited. It’s been critiqued by everyone I could beg, cajole, and whine into reading and editing it for me. And on Saturday I was forced by those who love me (damn bitches *g*) to hit the ’send’ button and shoot it to my editor.
It’s gone. I can’t get it back and tweak it ‘just one more time’.
I already heard back from my editor today who said she should have comments back to me before the Christmas break.
Ack.
I need a drink.
So I spent most of the entire weekend knee-deep in Christmas cards and wrapping paper. I wrapped forty eleven million (thank you Annmarie for that number *g*) presents and writing out an equal number of Christmas cards.
My hand hurts. Is it possible to get carpal tunnel from writing Christmas Cards and wrapping gifts?
Oh, and of course most of my family including my kids live out of state so after the mass wrappage came boxing up the gifts for shipping. Which meant finding boxes that would fit half of the forty eleven million gifts. Then labeling and taping. And removing prior labels (which meant I could use my really cool knife Charlie bought me, so that wasn’t a bad thing….hehehe).
But the major part of the Christmas wrap/ship extravaganza is done. Except for a few of my special friends, the ‘bitches’….I’m still waiting on some things to ‘arrive’ that aren’t here yet *pout*. I’m giving those things until Friday, and if they’re not here, then it’s more wrapping, more boxing, and more shipping.
Today…the Post Office. Pray for me *g*

Wouldn’t you love finding Bobby under your Christmas tree this year? He’s one of Ellora’s Cave’s hottest cover models. Easy to see why ;-)
